Heritage Places Television Episode: Century Manor

🍁 Heritage Places Television 🍁

ANNOUNCEMENT – In conjunction with our full episodes to air next year… we are delighted to announce Heritage Places Shorts. These short episodes will broadcast world wide.

Our first Heritage Places Shorts was shot recently… at a derelict former Asylum for the Insane in Hamilton owned by the Province of Ontario. This brick and stone edifice is the last remaining part of the original Hamilton Asylum for the Insane complex.

Century Manor was built in 1884, and is a typical example of Italianate architecture which was embraced extensively in Canada as the design style of choice for Government and domestic architecture of the last quarter of the 19th century. The three-storey building, now sits derelict since last being occupied in 1995.

The past twenty five years have not been kind to the building, however, there is now a movement to save this important part of our built and cultural heritage. We are very interested in following the outcome of this amazing building that should be fought to save tooth and nail. Who knows maybe a full episode of Heritage Places Television may be in order… but for now stay tuned for the Heritage Places Minute!
