My journey started at my family’s late 1800s brick home in Belleville, Ontario, which desperately needed repair. Aware that heritage buildings like ours demanded a preservation approach distinct from contemporary materials, I embarked on a journey of self-education.
Countless hours were spent exploring YouTube videos and reading articles, navigating the labyrinthine world of heritage restoration. It was during this pursuit of knowledge that serendipity intervened – my wife stumbled upon The Edifice Atelier.
The Edifice Atelier, a haven for heritage enthusiasts, proved transformative. It wasn’t just a resource; it was a gateway to a community of restoration experts who shared my passion for preserving the past. Guided by their wisdom, I delved deeper into traditional materials and techniques.
As my expertise grew, so did my reverence for history. Each discovery deepened my commitment. This wasn’t just about restoring a house; it was about honoring a piece of history, a tangible link to the past. It became a personal mission, driven by curiosity and a desire to do justice to our family home.
